Sage and Breville are the same machines. Breville sells under its own name in Australia and North America and under the Sage name across Europe, the UK and the Gulf. A Sage Barista Express (BES875) and a Breville Barista Express are the identical machine; so are the Barista Pro (SES878 / BES878), the Bambino Plus (SES500 / BES500), the Barista Express Impress (SES876 / BES876) and the Oracle range. Sage builds espresso machines that give you real control without a commercial footprint. The Barista range puts an integrated conical burr grinder, a 54mm portafilter and PID temperature control on a kitchen counter. The Oracle line adds automatic grinding, dosing and tamping behind a professional 58mm portafilter.

Which Sage machine should you buy?

Bambino Plus (SES500) — 19.4cm wide, automatic milk texturing, no built-in grinder. The right answer for a small kitchen and one or two coffees a day.
Barista Express (BES875) — built-in grinder, manual tamping and a manual steam wand. The machine most people learn espresso on.
Barista Pro (SES878) — the Express with ThermoJet heating (three seconds from cold) and a finer 30-setting Baratza grinder.
Barista Express Impress (SES876) — assisted 10kg tamping and intelligent dosing, which removes the step most beginners get wrong.
Barista Touch Impress (SES882) — touchscreen guidance, Auto MilQ hands-free milk and cold extraction.
Oracle Jet (SES985) and Oracle Dual Boiler (SES995) — automatic grind, dose and tamp into a professional 58mm portafilter.
