ROR

ROR is a coffee roastery based in the UAE, and everything on this page is roasted locally rather than shipped in months after the roast date. Specialty-grade beans, house blends, single-serve capsules, drip boxes and tasting sets — so whether you own an espresso machine, a capsule machine or no equipment at all, there is a ROR coffee that fits. Single origins are available as whole beans or ground.

Which ROR coffee should you buy?

If you pull espresso. Start with the blends. Mud Cake and Intenso are the dark, chocolate-heavy end of the range; Velvet and Stracciatella Cake are sweeter and creamier; Smooth Crema is built around a thick, long-lasting crema; Black Forest sits in between with a cherry note. For single origin espresso, Brazil Pau Cerrado and Pau Mimoso are the rounded, chocolatey choices, Costa Rica Rivense is the clean and structured one, and Uganda Kamgengo is the bold outlier. La Serrania is the decaf, and it is a good deal better than decaf's reputation suggests.

If you brew filter or pour over. The filter lots are seasonal single origins: Ethiopia Aura, Guji Hambela and Shakiso Mesele for florals, Kenya Kachunyu for blackcurrant intensity, Rwanda Nyampinga for citrus, and Costa Rica El Llano, Sol Dorado, El Salvador San Agustin and Honduras Several Farms for caramel sweetness. Pair them with a dripper and a kettle.

If you would rather not weigh anything. ROR capsules put single origin Costa Rica, Ethiopia, Brazil and Colombia into a capsule machine, and there is a matcha capsule as well. The drip boxes need no equipment at all: tear the bag, hang it on the cup, pour hot water.

If you are not sure yet. The Espresso Variety Box and the Filter Variety Box let you taste across the range before committing to a full bag, and both work as gifts.

Freshness, and why local roasting matters here

Coffee is at its best in the weeks after roasting, not the months. Beans imported into the Gulf spend a long time in transit and often longer in a warehouse; roasting in the UAE removes most of that delay. Once a bag is open, keep it sealed and out of direct heat — a kitchen in a Dubai summer is a harsher environment than most packaging assumes.

Buy whole bean and grind to order if you can. Ground coffee stales within days, and a decent grinder improves your cup more than a more expensive bag will. The one to buy however you prefer it is ROR Emirati Coffee with cardamom and saffron, which is a traditional spiced blend rather than a filter coffee.
